Scandica DL
Dressage Saddles

For Sale on eBay

Manufacturer: Stubben
Model: Scandica DL
Category: Dressage Saddles

Purchase: I bought this saddle on Ebay used for $610 with leathers, irons, girth, and martingale included before shipping. I had tried the Juventus at a local tack shop and fell in love immediately with the quality and feel of the Stubben saddles. I wanted to find the Juventus used but was lucky enough to find the Scandica instead.

Likes: I love the DL, it is designed for the short (or petite) rider. I am only 5'2" with a very short thigh, so most regular flap saddles ended at my ankle. The flap length fit my leg perfectly, ending mid calf. I also like the shape/design of the flap, it allows your leg to immediately sit in the right position-not too far forward. The tree does have a wide twist - but I like that and was able to sit correctly. The seat is extremely comfortable, it is not real deep but I felt very secure and could sit well at the trot.

Dislikes: I can't say there is anything about this saddle I don't like.

Quality: This saddle was broken in and dirty (I am not sure how old it is), but because of the good quality of the leather it cleaned up beautifully and looks nearly new! There are no loose stitches and I for see this being the only saddle I will need for the rest of my riding years. The tree is 31cm and it also fit my Arabian well at the shoulder, I find a lot of saddles pinch him.

Summary: The quality of this saddle is amazing, I was lucky enough to find it at a great price and would recommend it to anyone who needs a saddle for the petite rider. Although - it is not necessary to be short to ride in this saddle, my daughter is 5'7" and a hunt seat rider and she couldn't complain about the comfort or fit.
