Purchase: This sheet was ordered from the Dover Saddlery catalog. I paid $39.90 plus shipping.
Likes: I liked the flashy plaid color choices, of which there are two, both quite loud. The sheet is light, which is what I wanted since we live in a hot climate. It is easy to put on the horse, since it buckles in the front and you need not bunch it up to slip it over the wearers head. The cotton lining is comfortable and non static. This sheet is true to size, and not cut too deep in the neck, making it very well fitting for Morgan Horses, or Arabians. Also, with sheets being so expensive, the price was very attractive.
Dislikes: In actuallity, this sheet is a Barbie horse toy. The catalog listing reads that it is suitable for indoor or outdoor use. This is not a turn out sheet, it soaks up water like a dry sponge, even after a coating of Scotch Gaurd. The cotton lining becomes very heavy when wet. In addition both of the bias surcingles ripped off within one months time. Before the straps came off altogether, they were always hanging loose because there is no washer on the metal twist closure. The fabric shredded on top where my horse rubbed it while rolling, even though the listing calls it durable. The outdoor lifespan of this sheet, on a not overly active horse was one month.
Quality: The construction and quality of this supposed turnout durable sheet was very poor.
Summary: This sheet would probably be alright for indoor use only, on a quiet horse that one wanted to keep clean, perhaps for summer use in a cool climate. One would still need to be prepared to sew the straps back on regular
as clock work.
