Purchase: I got these a few years back from my local tack shop, paid around $30 I think.
Likes: My horse had a tendency to knock the back of his front hooves when landing from a jump and occasionally while cantering. At first I didn't pay much attention to it but as it got worse, the vet suggested these protectors. They have kept him from really hurting himself. I use them in combonation with their splint boots to prevent injury and provide additional support while jumping.
Dislikes: My horse had been hard on these so I can see having to replace them this year likely.
Quality: They are made from vinyl and nylon and are held in place with a hook and loop fastener. I'm pleased to have gotten a few years out of them.
Summary: Even if your horse doesn't hit his hooves, or appear to need any splints or boots right now, I would suggest using them anyway. All of my jumpers wear some sort of supportive device to prevent future problems.
