Purchase: My daughter received a Toklat Western Show Pad as a gift for Christmas ten years ago, when she got her first pony.
Likes: The pad is thick and soft, in a vivid well seperated color pattern. It broke in easily for use under saddle, without breaking down and aquiring that been through the forrest, around the block, and over a stream look. Today the pad still has it's shape, even after use on numerous horses, in the above fashion, with very little pilling and fading of the wool top. At one point, a mouse in the barn saw fit to nibble away some of the fleece underneath, down to the felt filler; it proved to be "rip stop", the damage ending where the mouse quit chewing, none of the felt has ever loosened or come apart. Since the pad is horse size, it did not fit the pony, and spent a comfortable six months as a floor cushion in her room before it was ever used on a horse. The colors, shocking pink, fuscia, royal blue, purple, lavender, and black, blended very well into a six year old girls decor.
Dislikes: While the colors of this pad are big fun for a little girl, the pad now looks very dated. I have been looking at these gaudy colors for ten long years, waiting for some damage to this pad from Christmas past, something, anything that will allow my sentimental mother's heart to throw the darned thing out because I am really sick of looking at it. We use it for every long dirty trail ride, every trip to the shore with the horses, everytime I see a chance to naturally destroy it (willfull harm not being in my nature). No go. My daughter has gone off to college, yet here the pad sits, almost as bright and beautiful as the day it was purchased.
Quality: The construction,quality, and durability that Toklat put into the making of this Western saddle pad are going to prove to be legendary.
Summary: Choose your Toklat Navajo Show Pad with care, because it will be with you for a very long time. You may even have to write it into your last will and testament.
