Purchase: I bought this bareback pad from Ebay, in February 2007. I bought it for $65 rather than the $79.95 the Best Friend website charges.
Likes: I absolutely LOVE the little grippy nodules on the underside of the pad, AND the girth - yes, it comes with its own girth. The grippies keep the pad from sliding side to side or front to back (problem with my last pad), and the matching girth does up from either side with plenty of holes to fit any size horse. If you ask my horse, his favorite part of the pad is the velcro-close "treat pocket" on the left side. On the right side is a water bottle holder. Perfect for longer rides on the trail!
Dislikes: Honestly so far I haven't found much that I dislike. I don't know why they say it's "western" style, because it is no different than their "english" version except that it has the treat pocket and water bottle holder!
Quality: I have had no problems with this pad or girth. The pad is a faux suede (mine is brown), which is comfy and adequately secure enough for your bottom to stay attached to your horse. There is enough padding so that you don't feel all the bones in your horse's spine, but not so much that you lose the feeling of being truly bareback. The girth attachments are extremely well made and strong, no fear of it breaking for some reason. And the grippy nodules are a great solution for anyone whose pad slides around!
Summary: I would buy this pad again, and recommend it to anyone!
