Dressage Saddles

Manufacturer: Amerigo
Model: Pinerolo Alto
Category: Dressage Saddles

Purchase: I found this saddle on EBay after doing plenty of research and deciding that this would be the right saddle for me and my horse. It ended up costing only $2,500.00 and the seller/rider kindly sent pictures of herself and the horse the saddle fit so that I could see that it would work for me. It did! After buying and riding in many saddles, this is the most incredible feel and fit of all.

Likes: Made of a luxurious, butter-soft, leather, the saddle just molds to your body. The thigh blocks seem substantial but are just softly pliable, but supportive, pillows that nestle your thigh and knee into the right position for dressage. Intricate aids are given effortlessly, while balance is impeccable. A very wide gullet allows my horse to round his back, while the flat panels spread weight nicely over his back muscles. A deepish seat, the saddle feels like home, forming around you like a glove, yet makes you want to sit tall and proud.

Dislikes: For my smaller Hanoverian (16.1 hands), the billet straps are very long. But they are made of a stronger and sturdier leather than the saddle so are a breeze to keep looking new. I just make sure I buy shorter girths that I can tuck the ends of the billet straps into. Otherwise, nothing is to not like.

Quality: Supple, butter soft and luxurious, deep black leather that looks very rich. It is easy to maintain with a damp cloth and saddle soap with a little conditioner every once in a while. Always looks brand new. The panels are wide and flat and conform perfectly to my horse's back. The thigh blocks and flaps are positioned perfectly under my legs. Stitching is decorative and tight, leather work is superior. Much attention to detail makes one confident in the long life of this saddle.

Summary: For upper level riders, or those aspiring to be so one day, this is the perfect saddle to upgrade your riding. It suggests, but does not force you into a classical dressage seat and is so comfortable for your horse. It is simply gorgeous and a pleasure to own.
