Purchase: I spent many long months trying every new and used dressage saddle at all the local tack shops. I even ordered test rides on a couple saddles through the internet. I was consistently disappointed and came closest to liking a couple off the rack saddles costing $4,000 or more.
I heard about JRD saddles and decided that it would be better to spend a similar amount of money ($3,800)on something that was made JUST for me and my horse
Likes: Mehrdad came to my barn and took multiple measurements of both myself and my horse. He also took the time to look at me on my horse and discuss with me how I wanted my leg to fall etc... He was a wealth of information and very pleasant to work with. He had brought along a saddle for me to try and it was stunning in every way.
After I chose my leathers and style, I paid 1/2 down and work began on my saddle. I contacted Mehrdad and JRD a few times during the process and was always answered promptly and kept up to date on my saddles progress.
Just under the 3 month promised delivery date, I received my new saddle along with precise breaking in and care instructions.
It is truly a thing of beauty. The craftsmanship is impeccable. All stitching is tight and consistent. The buffalo leather I selected, is obviously high grade. My legs fall easily exactly where they need to be. Something I have always had to fight for in the past. The saddle fits my horse and I perfectly. I could not be happier. It was well worth the money.
The saddle came with a certificate good for having the saddle readjusted in about 3 months time, once it is completely broken in. Mehrdad will come out and check it for proper fit and make any necessary adjustments to the flocking, etc...
Dislikes: The ONLY thing that I don't like about this saddle is that the D rings are brass. I'd prefer silver.
Quality: Leather is top rate. Stitching is tight and even. Billets are thick yet supple. Everything is top quality on this saddle.
Summary: This is the most comfortable saddle I have ever ridden in. I would definitely consider JRD, Saddlery Solutions if you are looking for a top rate saddle. I could hardly believe that I could get a saddle made from mine and my horses measurements for the same cost of many off the rack saddles. It is also nice to note that this saddle is hand made in America.
