Purchase: I was in need of a new set of sport boots and acquired the smb elite boots at the Minnesota horse expo for about $134.00 for a set of four. I really like that they now sell them in full sets of front and back boots. You save money and don't have to keep hunting for a matching set.
Likes: I love these boots. They are a great improvement over the smb IIs. They now have specific cut for front and back legs rather than a big square chunk of neoprene like the old models. They have a tight tailored, glove like fit with no bulky overlapping or gaps for the best support. I see no evidence of dirt or sand penetrating them thanks to the piping which also eliminates slipping and shifting. They come in a wide variety of colors and even some fun two tone ones so not only are they super protective but very attractive and fun.
Dislikes: I wish the boots had leather heels for added durability. I barrel race and do gymkhana events and I'm pretty ruff on them.
Quality: They have fairly thick neoprene for added support. The nonslip piping doesn't allow dirt to penetrate and eliminates shifting during work. The tailored glove like fit to leg means better support and no bulk or gaps. The fabric on the outside allows velcro to stick anywhere for the best fit on any leg. Very high quality construction and also comes with a warranty.
Summary: I'm really happy with these boots and think they are one of the best out there. I would recommend them for trail riders to serious competitors. If you want the best protection for your horse these are a must have.
