Purchase: I tried these last Summer. They were effective for about a month for fly control.
The premise of a horse wearing plastic leg bands made with insect repellents was a good idea. However the plastic dried out and cracked about the same time as the effectiveness of the repellent was exhausted.
Overall I would not spend about 20.00 again for a product which lasts about a month.
My two horses wore these when turned out 24/7. You could probably buy these to wear on a week long trail ride with some success.
Likes: The premise was a good one. My horses seemed to have less flies on their legs when wearing the fly bands.
Dislikes: The plastic material that these were made with dried out when exposed to the elements of Summer. When the plastic dried out the snaps tore off making the band unusable. Not to mention the problem of a horse wearing a hard band which potentially could cause scarring or blemishes,
Quality: The bands were made of a honeycomb mesh plastic which contained a natural insect repellent. The bands were closed with two snaps.
Summary: The Manufacturer should find a better material to make his bands with. Something that would be soft and flexible and hold up to effects of sun and heat.
