Purchase: Mr. Ballard stands behind his products! I had originally purchased a roping saddle in 2006 along with matching breast collar and bridle for $850.00. I have been riding for 35 years and I must say this was the most comfortable saddle I have ever owned - leg position was great - allowed for comfortable neutral alignment. Unfortunately when my mare matured and bulked up it seemed to be impinging on her shoulder movement (she is bulldog quarter with very little wither) and I contacted Mr. Ballard for an appointment and took my existing saddle and my horse to his shop and we tried on saddles, finding a nice pleasure saddle that fit her and me perfect. Mr. Ballard took my roping saddle in trade and I only ended up paying $100.00 difference. I spent an entire day in the saddle the second time I used it and it was incredibly comfortable with good leg positioning, no pressure points on either myself or my mare. I am hooked on Ballard's.
Likes: The craftsmanship of these saddles is amazing - the original roper was heavy (as ropers are) but the pleasure saddle, with the new lighter tree is equally as well made. Both the roper and the pleasure saddle are very comfortable with neutral leg alignment allowing these saddles to be comfortable for several hour trail rides as well as competitive use. I have used both now for trail, gymkhana and pleasure with equal comfort. The attention to detail, comfort for horse and rider with exceptional customer satisfaction and a great price!!
Dislikes: I have no dislikes!
Quality: Each Ballard saddle/tack item is handmade in his shop in Bloomington, CA - not mass produced or assembly line. I was impressed with the attention to detail and superior craftsmanship.
Summary: I think Mr. Ballard's integrity and attention to detail is evident in his products. I would recommend any/all products to everyone I know with complete confidence. Mr. Ballard personally stands behind each and every product he makes and I was impressed with his genuine concern for the comfort of both my horse and myself.
