Purchase: I got this saddle new from a local saddlery for AU$2000. It was suggested that I try it as a pessoa wasn't available. Later i was to find out that Trianer's saddles and Pessoa saddles were made by exactly the same guys.
I needed a saddle because I'd just moved onto hacks and didn't like the way mum's saddle (a Trainer's Professional) made me sit like i was in an arm-chair.
Likes: Luckily, this saddle sat me in a perfectly balanced position. Further more, it did so even though it is a 17" saddle and I stopped growing at 4'10"!
I particularly like the panels. They are flock filled and, hence, are quite generous and soft which means it fits horses of all shapes and has plenty of clearance for the withery thoroughbreds. It also fits securely on the horse's back, not flapping or slipping. Although I did have to get the panels re-stuffed, I'd prefer that to having latex foam ones that do flatten over time and you can't replace easily.
It also has GREAT girth points with BIG holes.
Dislikes: As I never grew into it, I'm currently looking for a smaller saddle and, although I'm very impressed by this saddle, am afraid that if I get it in a smaller size the deeper seat will be of hindrance over the bigger jumps. I would prefer a slightly flatter seat.
One of the main stitches holding the flap onto the pommel came loose and so I had to get that re-stitched.
Quality: The general quality of the saddle has been impressive. It has worn reasonably well, is comfortable and has good leather - I expect it will last a long time. It is wearing much better than other pessoa saddles of the same price range.
Summary: If you are looking for a beautifully balanced, quality saddle to fit most horse types - and at a reasonable price - then this is the one for you. Just to let you in on a secret, to buy a pessoa equivalent it may well cost you an extra grand just for the print 'Pessoa' on the flaps because it is such a popular and renowned brand. In this case, the price hasn't compromised the quality, especially when you compare it to other pessoas.
