Purchase: I called Dixieland after hearing about their forms they use to achieve a great fitting saddle. It's just too hard and expensive to "mail order" a saddle and hope it fits. We picked the best fitting form, called Dixieland, and Cynthia was such a great help going thru the ordering process. I paid just under $1000.
Likes: I love the fact that it's light weight for a leather saddle. It fits my horse nicely and looks awesome! It has a very comfy deep seat and does allow for better gaiting with proper shoulder flare.
Dislikes: The only surprises were I ordered extra padding. I felt there could have been more. I was coming off an Orthoflex so you can see what I mean! Not a big problem just something I would notice.
The only real problem I had was I feel the seat sizes run small. The cantle is 5". The rise of the cantle seems to eat up some seat room and I feel my 16" seat is a more true size 15.5".
Quality: The quality of leather is first rate. You can just look at the detail in the saddle and tell it's made with quality and care. The leather is smooth and supple, no hide marks or scars.
Summary: Would I buy another one? You bet. I'd just order it a size bigger. I can't stress enough how great it was to find a lighter weight leather saddle.
