Purchase: I purchased a Brent Wright reining saddle made by Bob's Custom Saddles of Scottsdale, AZ. My reining horses tend to be wide backed and have been tough to fit. Most reining saddles don't seem wide enough in the gullet and want to roll when you'd get on. I purchased my saddle from "The Chap Shop" in Harrisonville, MO. I bought the more expensive model - full tooled with sterling conchos and silver rear D's. It I paid $2850 + shipping and they have a trial policy.
Likes: The saddle really fit my wide horses and I was able to try it for a week. If I didn't like it I could return it with no restocking fee. The saddle has a 7" gullet and really feels close contact and I liked the way I can sit my stops! The quality is great - beautiful tooling and silver. The leather felt broke in the 3rd time I rode. Also, I really like the pre-turned fenders - doesn't even feel like I have had a break-in period.
They gave me a lot of assistance, asked me a lot of questions about my riding and my horse and shipped the saddle quickly.
Dislikes:
Quality: The saddle is handmade and is finished beautifully.
Summary: I would buy a saddle from them (The Chap Shop) again. I never felt like I would be stuck with a saddle that didn't fit, that I didn't like or didn't match the picture.
