Purchase: I bought these boots along with pastern wraps for $99.99 from kvvetsupply.com to protect my newly barefoot horse's feet while trail riding.
Likes: These boots are very well made and it can take a few minutes to get the boots on, but it's really pretty easy. My horse got used to them quickly and goes comfortably in them, even over sharp gravel. We've ridden through varied terrain, including water and deep mud and the boots have never twisted or fallen off.
Dislikes: A few times after using these boots I noticed very slight rubs on my horse's pasterns, and the pastern wraps have been completely useless for me as they are difficult to get on and don't stay in the boot. Using vet wrap or even human socks over the hoof instead of pastern wraps has worked to solve this problem.
Quality: These boots seem well made and so far have held up well to use. The soles are sturdy and while yes, the leather is stiff, it's no problem. The keepers for the straps are not attached to the boots and can and do fall off.
Summary: Would like to see better designed pastern protection, but overall, I'm happy with these boots.
