Purchase: After trying numerous "therapeutic" saddle pads and not being able to find out that truly allowed my horse to more freely I started researching for a new one. I stumbled across the SaddleRight website one day, it looked intriguing so I did some searching on it-including horsetackreviews.com. EVERYTHING I have found about these pads was super super positive. After much debating about the price and what not I decided to try it it out, after all there is the 30 day guarantee. I paid $249.99 for it.
Likes: It was soft, yet firm. It cushions the horse's back without allowing pressure points from the saddle to hit the horse. It give a very nice, close contact feel. Allowing you to feel your horse, but not bounce you around. My 19 year old carries her head lower, and really stretches out in her stride. I can't wait to feel how she barrel races in it! My 4 year olds gaits have become sooo much smoother since using this pad! I was really surprised, I had thought that her rough gaits were, well, just her way of moving since the saddle fits fine. But riding has become so much more enjoyable, and less..painful.. now!
Dislikes: The obvious one would be price. But our horse's backs are extremely important to us. Why not give them the best we possibly can?
Also, I wish there was a way to clean the pad, instead of having to use a underpad to make sure the actual pad stays clean..its a little annoying.
Quality: Its beautifully made! The suede is nice and thick, it will last a long time. It has 100% wool felt on the bottom. And the stitching is heavy duty.
Summary: Bottom line is that my horses love this pad, which is what really matters in the end!
