Purchase: Found this on Ebay used for 1500. Needed (ahem) a larger seated saddle.
Likes: This is one of the older orthoflex from Nevada MO. It is extremely comfortable, the horn slopes out away from you and yet the seat has a nice pocket for security. The formed padded rolls at the swells of the pommel make a nice padded secure area for going down very steep hills along with the freely swinging fenders easy on the knees! It has double rigging and a cheyenne roll, and is very good to fit a TW, a QH and a mule. Excellent soft leather and just a easy chair kind of ride with security and a good fit for a variety of animals...lovely to ride.
Dislikes: Without a center shim, it cannot fit a very old swaybacked QH here, but have not found any saddle that will, without shimming where his sway is rather pronounced. Truly, we like the saddle very well all around.
Quality: Top quality leather, properly balanced and fitted, tooling etc properly done, too. We have not had to do anything to this saddle other than routine leather conditioning and have had it for years.
Summary: These are top on the line leather and a unique tree design that works as intended.
The particular style of the seat is secure but luxurious feeling... a little different to look at but certainly a marvelous investment in a fine used saddle.
