Dressage Saddles
Manufacturer: Classic Saddlery
Model: Classic Select
Category: Dressage Saddles
Purchase: I bought the saddle from www.classicsaddlery.com (Lynnda or Beth) The saddle has a warrantied adjustable tree and fits almost anything! I paid less than $2500 for it brand new.
Likes: Lynnda at Classic saddlery is a wonderful person and has amazing knowledge of horse and rider conformation! I told her what saddles I liked to ride in and why they didn't fit my horse. She asks for a photo of the rider (and sometimes the horse if they are hard to fit) and can tell you what kind of pelvic floor you have and recommends saddles that you would like and hate and she is dead on every time! Your pelvic floor is different depending on the length of your pelvic shape, how you stand - do you easily arch your back - then you need a saddle with a narrow twist and a certain rise in the front of the seat. If you have a flat pelvis - you already have an even relationship between the front and back of your pelvis, you don't have to work hard to "tuck" you butt when riding dressage. VERY helpful! She recommended that I try the Classic "Select", formerly the Rembrandt "Laurea", which I absolutely love. It fits like a glove. Since the saddle is the most important thing you will buy besides your horse, finding a saddle that fits both horse AND rider is really important.
Dislikes: Sometimes the gullet/channel is not wide enough for some horses - BUT I sent it back to have it reflocked and she was able to substantially widen the gullet which now fits ALL the horses I ride. To have this done only cost $125. So, really I have nothing to say negative about it.
Quality: The saddle runs a little small in the seat, so maybe order 1/2 size bigger in the seat than with most saddles. Construction is incredible! She stands behind her saddles 100% and there is a free reflocking after the first 6 months of purchase to make sure it fits properly, which is great! The adjustable tree is SO easy to use - there is a velcro flap in the front under the pommel in the channel that has a small key (long piece of metal) that you just put in a hole inside and twist. No screwdrivers or muscles necessary! It is so easy to adjust - takes seconds literally!
Summary: Best saddle I ever bought and best service from a saddle maker and seller I have ever experienced. I love the saddle and will NEVER sell it. Definitely worth every penny!
