Purchase: My coach, and most everyone at her barn, rides in DK saddles. I was hesitant to believe how good they were as I thought it was sales hype. After buying and selling a near dozen saddles over the past year, and having Danny Kroetch, of DK Saddlery, analyze the latest saddle I was using, I am now a believer of the extraordinary quality and fit of these fine saddles.
Likes: First, Danny is a real pro who knows horses and their movement, and how women need a saddle to fit to be the most effective combination for both horse and rider. Second, the DK saddles are of an exceptional high quality that speaks of years of expertise and study in the saddle making and fitting trade. Third, the saddle with its air panels, is infinitely adjustable so that is can be made to fit exactly to you and your horse. Fourth, the ride is exquisite! Like you are part of your horse and the saddle is simply not there.
Dislikes: At this time, DK saddles need to be adjusted by Danny himself. A fantastic tradesman, Danny travels the world to market and adjust his saddles. So fitting into his schedule can take a bit of patience. If you are lucky enough to own one of his saddles, I'd suggest having a backup saddle for those times that you may await Danny's next visit for an adjustment. The wait is well worth it. Owning this saddle is a privilege.
Quality: Made of supple leather and constructed with precision like all the top saddles, the DK saddles are made with leather equal to the butter-soft leather of Italian-made Amerigo saddles, with construction and fit to surpass that of County, Passier, and Courbette. Billets are designed to connect each strap in a double Y to secure the saddle to the horse in perfect balance and comfort for horse and rider. The gullet is wide to allow spinal ligaments to move freely with no constriction. Thigh blocks are easily adjustable to every rider.
Summary: A fantastic saddle well worth the dollar spent to acquire it and the patience to have Danny fit it to horse and rider. Highly recommended for anyone serious about riding with precision, feel, balance and connection.
