Flex+ Joint Supplement
Horse Health and Well Being

Manufacturer: Absorbine
Model: Flex+ Joint Supplement
Category: Horse Health and Well Being

Purchase: I ended up with this product through a friend who had bought some for her arthritic dog but couldn't digest the product well (old dog, with many problems). Since my horse came off the track and had hoof and knee issues, I figured, what the hey, I'll use the rest and see what happens.

Likes: This supplement is actually loaded with good stuff. I did a lot of comparing and it contains Glucosamine, MSM, Yucca, a slew of other nutrients and is built on a Rice Bran base, which is something I was feeding separately because we needed the weight gain. It comes in 2 different sizes I know of. Also, and this is a huge plus, I fed less than the standard maintenance dose and it still worked! So it lasts me longer than the 30 days for the smaller size.

Dislikes: The price of course LOL, but I think that is true for all joint supplements. People like me who basically work to support their horse tend to watch and compare prices and there are products out there that are less expensive BUT this stuff is a comparatively good value for the money.

Quality: As mentioned above, this supp. is built on a rice bran base, it mixes easily with feed and and doesn't smell nasty or funky to the horse (or to me). As far as quality I can only stress that I am very very impressed with the results we saw in a relatively short period of time (a little over 30 days). My horse has alignment problems with his knees and this tends to make him gimpy in the front (along with a very bad previously foundered hoof). At the time I started feeding this, I did not know that while on the track he used to have his knees injected. All I knew was there was something going on causing a little lameness, that he eventually could work himself out of after a good warmup. I had no idea how bad his knees were in the past. The gimp is pretty much completely gone, I rarely notice anything like it anymore. I truly did not believe that a supplement could make such a huge difference, especially since the problem was so hidden and the source thereof not obvious at all. I had asked the vet and some other friends whether I should use a joint supp. for him and was told unless something was actually diagnosed it would either be unnecessary or a waste of money. We were definitely in for a big surprise. If you look hard enough, you can find Flex+ as a great deal online, even considering shipping. The local stores here charge anywhere between $40-48 per 30 days supply. Then there is sales tax. It gets pretty steep. I just found a place online (Arcaros Saddlery- http://www.arcaros.com) where I was able to order two (2) 30 days pales for $75.44 and since my order was over $75, shipping was completely free!!! It's the freight charges on these heavier weight items that always killed the discount of the product for me, so I used to just buy it locally.

Summary: I can only highly recommend this supplement to anyone whose horse seems to be "off", "stiff" or any other number of clouded issues, as well as any horse that needs help with their joint, injury or deformity (such as over or back in the knee). You can paste our picture on the bucket if ya like... there we would be, grinning right back at ya!
