Purchase: I researched many saddles before I purchased my Dixieland. I wanted a good fitting saddle that I could use on my two horses, one being a Standardbred and the other a TWH. I used the fit forms and took pictures of both horses and sent them to Cynthia for her evaluation. She informed me that one tree would work for both my horses and that my TWH would be best fit by the wide version of that tree. I ordered the wide tree and it has fit both horses very well. I just use a thicker pad for my STB. $775 was the base price for the saddle and with all my extras and shipping the total was $1083.
Likes: I like that the saddle fits my horses really well. I also like the enduro balanced rigging. I actually was hoping that my husband would try my saddle on his TWH (which is why I ordered the wide tree). He has always had trouble with the saddle rolling as he rides. This made him miserable and unpleasant on rides, which made me miserable and unpleasant! He finally tried my Dixieland yesterday and he is in love with it. It stayed on top of his horse even with a slightly loose cinch. He was really impressed and believe me, he is hard to impress. Our ride was really pleasant and enjoyable and now maybe he will want to ride more because he has a saddle that is comfortable for him and his horse.
Dislikes: My only complaint about this saddle is the weight. I think it is close to 30lbs. That is easily overlooked because of the quality and good fit for the price.
Quality: The saddle is very well made. The leather is a wonderful quality and the tooling was flawless. The saddle is beautiful.
Summary: I love my Dixieland and as of yesterday it is now my husbands! So I am off to order a second Dixeland for myself. Cynthia is great to work with. She can answer all of your questions.
