Jumping Saddles

For Sale on eBay

Manufacturer: Pessoa
Model: Legacy
Category: Jumping Saddles

Purchase: I bought it used from Devoucoux seller for $500. And, it was in excellent condition.

Likes: The balance. I am really picky about balance because I tend to perch while doing stadium at the events. The narrow twist is awesome- not too narrow, but I cannot stand a wide one. The leather is super sticky, even though it is the smooth Paris-type leather. The blocks are properly positioned, so I can hack my mare in it and the rear calf block doesn't get in the way. I also like that the cantle is lower than most other saddles so that if I get a little left behind (imagine, perching but still left. ugh), it doesn't hit my bum and toss me over my mare's ears. Also, the billets have held up really well. The color is a beautiful two tone with the proper oiling, looks like a PJ. The stirrups are positioned properly- a balance thing, but so many saddles don't have it right!

Dislikes: I think that the panels are a little hard. I know that is how foam saddles are, but my mare is a little picky. Also, if I really raise my stirrups for XC, the thigh block digs into my thigh. I am long hip to knee, so I assume this is the problem. The new lower pommel seems to make it a little harder to fit a high withered horse. Seat is a little hard too, I think.

Quality: Really good, actually. I got this right after I sold my Amerigo XC saddle, so I thought I would have to suck it up. I actually think it is as sticky as the Amerigo, but the leather wears better. All of the stitching is still tight after about 3 years of use. There is wear at the pommel though, and I only ride in breeches (but cannot say about the previous owner). Very good overall. Wish they had wool rather than foam and padded the seat better.

Summary: Excellent balance and sticky leather. I can overlook the comfort of a softer seat for a saddle that I can really ride in. Worth the money, I think.
