Purchase: i paid $664 for a Crest Ridge Sonata Saddle. I wanted a synthetic. It is leather/Wintec combo.
I wanted to specifically fit my Tennessee Walking Horse.
Only a few saddle makers truly design a product for the TWH.
Likes: The fit is incredible, because Crest Ridge Saddlery custom fit the saddle. They detail "how to fit your horse" properly on their website.
Further, Debra R. owns and raises Tennessee Walking Horses. Her help in putting the right saddle on my horse from their line of saddles made all the difference.
We custom fit the tree together, by measuring, taking photos, doing the white towel test and then padding for any last correction.
It made all the difference for the horse!!
Dislikes: My first rides required some settling in on my "sit bones", my anatomical ischial tuberosities. It was not like sitting on a pillow from the first ride. However,
after 5 hours in the saddle, I am now comfortable.
Quality: Finely made saddle, good buckles, correct sized holes, pretty stitching. And stirrups that I don't have to put a broom stick in to train to turn.
Summary: The fit makes all the difference for the horse!
For the simplest trail riding on groomed carriage roads to rigorous steep tricky trails, my horse enjoyed a pressure free spine.
This was the best saddle fitting experience I ever had. Debra at Crestridge Saddlery is a god sent for Tennessee Walking Horses.
