Purchase: I bought this saddle about four years ago from a tack store in Oregon. I got it ordered in because I wanted black leather instead of havana. I got it on sale for 701 dollars.
Likes: I like the wide tree of this saddle, it fit my 15.2 Oldenburg TB cross and now it fits my 17 hand Thoroughbred. The seat is extremely comfortable and so are the padded knees. It's flap length is perfect for longer legged riders such as myself, and i have ridden dressage, and evented in this saddle.
Dislikes: I was pleased at first with the saddle's quality, but over the years I have found a few things. It is made with Argentine leather, not the best. The billets need frequent conditioning as they dry out quickly and then could crack without maintenance. Also, I ride five to six days each week, and after four years of this, a few splits have formed on the side of the pommle seam and down further on the seat seam.
Quality: The construction of the saddle is wonderful, but I think better leather could have been used, especially on the seat and billets.
Summary: A wonderful saddle for pleasure riders, or eventers up to about training level, maybe prelim level, if you don't mind conditioning it about once a month. They don't make this saddle anymore though, but Ovation makes the updated version of it with an adjustable gullet system, which I think makes it all the better!
