Purchase: I purchased my saddle from a local dealer, CVR in Cannon Falls MN. I paid less than $1000 for a absolutely beautiful, wonderful quality semi-custom wade saddle. I chose this model as my gelding is broad back with prominent shoulders, and low withers. The Wade tree and full quarter horse bars were exactly what my fitter and I were looking for. I passed on tooling (which adds to the price) to keep the saddle easy to clean. The saddle looks far from bland or boring. Your choice of options may add or reduce the price of a saddle you order, as will the dealer you order through. CVR was great to work with.
Likes: I love the quality and value. The saddle is handmade to order on a real wade tree. You get to chose color, seat type, tooling, stirrups, etc. Modifications can also be made on materials to add or reduce weight depending on your usage. Since I am a trail rider, I opted to have my Wade made a little lighter, resulting in 10 pounds shaved off the final weight. On many saddles you also have a choice of trees. How great is that? I chose a lovely warm golden brown with a harmoniously colored smooth leather half pad seat in russet. The half pad seat is extremely comfortable and rivals that of my friends' Tuckers. Montana Silver is the icing on the cake. Absolutely lovely!
Both my dealer and Rocking R (thanks May!) were extremely helpful in answering my questions, helping me with my order, and keeping me on top of the status of my order.
Dislikes: There wasn't a single thing I did not love about this saddle. Because they are handmade and semi-custom, you can expect to wait for your order -- but it is well worth the it and every penny of their extremely reasonable prices. You can pay the same to get something mass produced by machines, and have no say in the look, or you can go with a company like Rocking R. I'd take Rocking R any day!
Quality: Absolutely great! Far better than one would expect for the moderate price. Carefully and thoughtfully put together by hand with quality materials. Made to order. As long as I have horses, I'll be a Rocking R customer. No more mass produced saddles for me. Not only do you get a great saddle, you get the color, tooling, and style you chose.
Summary: I couldn't be more pleased with this saddle. It makes the wait well worth it. It's functional, a great fit, and absolutely beautiful. Who could ask for more?
