Purchase: I got this pad from my trainer for Christmas.
Likes: The suede is very grippy.
You just don't fall off.
It does not slide around on your horses back like most bareback pads, because you use an actual cinch on it, not some crappy built in thing.
The handle on it is good..nice & sturdy.
Dislikes: I ride english,
so I had to buy a western cinch for it.
But that's no big deal.
I also wish it had the 2 big D-rings on either side like some pads do.
They were good, because you could put stirrups on it if you really wanted to......I think that's a good feature, but oh well.
Quality: Suede all over.
With synthetic wool-like stuff over the horses back.
Extremely long leather latigos on both sides to attach the cinch.
Summary: It's great. I feel very confident in it.
I can jump, go on trails, do flat work, etc.
My horse once spooked at something, did a 360, and bolted of.
I stayed on because the suede was so grippy.
I was also using just a halter & clip-on reins on my horse that day, & I had to spin him around to do the one-rein emergency stop, and I had the balance to do that, even without stirrups.
