Dressage Saddles
Manufacturer: Bates
Model: Isabelle Werth
Category: Dressage Saddles
Purchase: I acquired my Isabelle Werth (Cair) 17 1/2 inch Wintec at Horseland in Ringwood fully mounted for $1600.00 in March this year (2004). I did so for a number of reasons, Initially I was being careful with price, and this lovely saddle was within my range. Secondly I was concerned about weight and comfort for my horse who is 17hh with an extremely high wither (and was, at the time underweight....we rescued him from an abattoir). The gullet on this saddle is changeable and the cair panels provide the comfort for my horse's back, no matter what weight he puts on (and he has increased greatly in weight...but that is another story!). I also like the low maintenance this saddle provides.....just a wipe over with a cloth and the cleaning is done. Furthermore, my partner and I are vegetarian so, where possible we choose non animal products. Overall, this saddle provided everyone with a win/win situation. Having ridden in this saddle for approx eight months now, I have found it extremely comfortable, deep and conducive to a good leg position whilst riding.
Likes: The depth of seat, the good position it gives to the rider's leg, the price and the choice of either leather or wintec to the purchaser, Ohh, and the choice of Cair panels or flocking to the purchaser also.
Dislikes: There is not anything major I dislike about this saddle. If I were forced to choose anything at all it would be the saddle flap straps/girth (used to keep the saddle flap down against the horse's side. But this is not a problem and has in fact shown to be useful.
Quality: As previously stated, the saddle is deep, keeps the rider's leg in a good position, has the option of Cair panels (which I chose for my horse) and the fabric is easily washed over with a cloth.
The quality of the saddle, I have found to date (although the saddle is not old) is of High value. This saddle has been used and abused by me and is still in excellent condition.
Summary: I would certainly recommend this saddle to anyone. This is one where quality, fit, comfort and price and in one nice package!
