Purchase: The mask was $23.95 at Stage Coach West at 5 & 20 Irving, New York 14081, phone 716-934-4771 or 1-800-648-1121, www.stagecoachwest.com. They had a coupon sale, to see what else I impulse purchased see my review of the new leg guards. I had been riding in the "pasture" fly mask but when I went from the open pasture to the forest my horse was objecting a it. I needed a less dense mask. The long nose of the pasture mask got plugged with dust as we rode and I think it made it difficult to breathe, or at least hotter for him. I purchased it on 7/14/07.

Likes: It doesn't interfere with my horse's vision or the function of his Bitless Bridle. It fits well except for needing a longer strap to attach it.

Dislikes: I used to purchase the Cashel Crusader Pasture Fly Mask Long with Ears in Draft. This horse wore the bottom edge into fringe. I switched to the Warmblood size and got velcro to extend the under jaw closure and he gets years of daily use, year round. Thus I purchased warmblood size in this mask and without the nose I should have gotten the Draft size. It says to order by halter size but after purchasing both halter sizes his are now custom made. My horse is a Clydesdale Standardbred Cross with a 53 inch over crown measurement to mouth corners, a 18" brow, a 30" noseband. I don't have a throatlash measurement here but on most bridles I replace or remove the throatlash.

Quality: The mask is lighter weight than the pasture mask but the quality is excellent. I will only use it for riding, the color is attractive (black).

Summary: I'd like to try their Bug Armor for riding, but my horse is huge. He seems quite happy in his mask, and I don't use pesticides on his face. It never shift with the Bitless Bridle. I rinse and hang it when I am done riding and he isn't wetter under his mask than anywhere else.
