Purchase: When i got my new horse in September of 2006, I needed a martingale. I didn't really feel like parting with big bucks, so I bought this bridle from a local tack shop for about $80.
Likes: It is a really high quality martingale for only eighty bucks. It fits my horse and all the other horses at my barn very well. My trainers use it on other horses sometimes, because it fits well to nearly every horse. I clean my tack after every ride, and after these many cleanings it has become fairly soft and supple.
Dislikes: It doesn't oil well. I bought it in a bright newmarket type color, and I oiled it probably about ten times with mink oil (that's all there was in the barn) and it only changed color minimally. However, after many cleanings is became darker, so it isn't hopeless.
Quality: It's a great quality martingale, just as nice looking as those Edgewoods, I think. It does the job, and looks nice too.
Summary: It's definitely in your favor to buy these (martingales, NOT bridles). I really like how it's held up with everyday use and it is appropriate for the show ring as well. Over all, a fabulous buy!
