Purchase: I bought this saddle from a tack store close out for $495, although it retailed for $1000.
Likes: I love the way it is constructed and designed. This saddle has all the details that the more expensive brands have. My leg really hangs down at the perfect angle effortlessly. Also, it is very secure on the horse because of the panel design and v billets. I didn't have to strangle my horse with the girth and the saddle doesn't slide or rock. The leather on the seat and knee pads is very nice and soft. My saddle fitter said she was impressed with the tree and overall design. It has short tree points so it fits a wide range of horses.
Dislikes: The leather on the flaps is a bit stiff at first, but after a few months of riding(and effax products) it has soften considerably. However, the leather wears like iron. After 2 years, it still looks new! Also, the original flocking is terrible. I had my saddle's flocking completely redone and fitted to my horse(cost $200). So for $695 total, I have a completely custom saddle. My horse thinks I spent $3000 on his new saddle.
Quality: My saddle fitter asked me where I got this saddle, so she can recommend it to clients who don't want to spend several thousand on a new saddle. Spend less, have it reflocked and fitted, and presto, you have a custom saddle. Still looks new, billets aren't stretched, and barely any stirrup leather marks. Everything was very symmetric in construction, which is very important.
Summary: Would definitely buy again, and recommend to others. But be aware that you will probably have to reflock this saddle. Otherwise, super saddle, great features and balance.
