Barrel Saddles

Manufacturer: Circle Y
Model: Bob Marshall
Category: Barrel Saddles

Purchase: I borrowed the saddle from a friend to see if I would like it after purchasing my Original Bob Marshall Sports Saddle (still waiting for the arrival).

Likes: At the walk you feel really secure - like the horse could do acrobatic flips and you'd stay aboard.

Dislikes: Major difficulty keeping the saddle from slipping from side to side. Major issue because the stirrups were set farther back than normal saddles. I NEVER lose my stirrups and I kept losing them in this saddle. I ride barrels, HUS, Western Pleasure, bareback, and dressage and think that I have a pretty good seat that never leaves the saddle - BUT in this saddle my butt was flopping a foot in the air for some reason (maybe from the stirrup placement or maybe for some other unknown reason). Either these saddles take a lot of getting used to or there is something very strange. I'm just hoping now that the Original BM Sport Saddles are easier to ride (according the the reviews they are...we'll see!).

Quality: Nice Construction - expect to need a cinch 4-6" shorter than your regular treed saddles. I've seen many of these saddles around that are 15-20 years old that are still in great shape.

Summary: From the outside looks like a nice saddle...just not sure how you ride in these. I'd definitely borrow one for an extended period of time before purchasing one.
