Purchase: I picked out this bridle for my birthday, it was $39.95 from Horse Tack Co.
Likes: It looks nice, but it's practical. The leather feels strong. It flexed well after I oiled it. The stitching's good. it's got an okay feel to it.
I like it.
Dislikes: Some of the leather was a little crinkly, but nothing too bad. I wouldn't call the leather "soft and supple" for the first use, like the site did, it was fairly stiff, but after oiling it's much better.
The nose band is kind of low compared to the length of the cheek pieces. The nose band's shortest length matches the longest or second longest length of the cheep pieces. If your horse runs towards the shorter end of cob size, you'd probably have to punch a hole in the nose band.
The havana color of the bridle is indistinguishable from black, even close up. I'm hoping it'll fade with use and cleanings.
I didn't like the reins it came with.. I planned on using different reins anyway.
My main regret is that I didn't order it in the oakbark color.
Quality: The hardware's all good and strong. The stitching's good too. It's a good buy for the price!
I just hope it'll hold up with the mare I ride, she's a bucker who broke her last bridle during a fit.
Summary: I picked the bridle because it was cheap, and it's actually looking like a good buy for the price. I can't imagine it'll age well, but I don't need it for years. The only things bothering me are the nose band and color. I'm kicking myself because I didn't order oakbark.
