Purchase: I bought the shoes for 89.95 from Crazy Horse ( and they were mailed the very day I ordered them. Excellent service and communication. Sadly, I had to return them because they did not fit. This online store has an excellent, uncomplicated web design with a fast search engine.

Likes: This Ariat shoe, as you would expect, is made of excellent materials and workmanship. I wanted a light-weight SHOE for riding that did not require a lot of lacing. The nylon "breathing" material and the quick notch lace-up are the factors that definitely caused me to buy this product.

Dislikes: The shoe was not as light weight as I expected. The sole was stiff. Because of a thick heel, I felt as though I was walking on clogs; the high heel caused my toes to jam forward into the shoe. The shoe's tongue is made of a stretchy material and sewn into the sides of the shoe. Instead of being able to lift the tongue to insert your foot, you have to pull the sides of the shoe apart to stretch the tongue laterally enough to get your foot into the shoe. I could put up with that, but not the hard, overly thick heel that made me feel as though I were walking on clogs. Once the shoe is laced, I discovered that the shoe did not cover enough of the top of my instep. Consequently, I had a lot of heel slippage. I have a normal woman's foot and am generally easy to fit.

Summary: I think the product could be better designed. Less heel height; less weight of the rubber heel material; more coverage of the shoe on top of the foot's instep; better arch support.
