Purchase: I bought these boots from the Plum Shade Farm website for around $35 each.
Likes: I love these boots! A new farrier clipped my horse's front feet too short. As a result, my horse was unable to walk and we thought he may have stress foundered. He couldn't stand any of the other boots I tried. I saw these advertised in a magazine and thought I'd try them. Lo and behold these soft, non-binding boots were perfect for my horse. I put them on and turned him out. He marched right out of his stall, across some gravel and straight to his paddock. At that point he hadn't been able to hobble more than a few feet. Other horses at my barn have used these boots with great results.
Dislikes: They are a tad hard to keep clean when worn in extreme winter-time mud. It gets into the soft sole and is hard to get out. But that's not a huge minus.
Quality: These boots are made of a soft nylon type material with a squishy bottom. They are easy to get on even the most wiggly horse because of the velcro closures. The horse steps into the boots and you wrap the material around the foot and fasten the velcro. There is also a sweatband type band you slip over the hoof to protect the pastern.
Summary: I love these boots and will buy them again. My horse is happy and healthy with no permanent damage to his feet. His recovery was hard, but it probably would have been just awful without these wonderful boots.
