Purchase: I bought this saddle used from a tack shop. The asking consignment price was $2,000 but was able to purchase the saddle for $1750 after asking the seller's bottom line. The Brunet Pinot's are no longer made, and was told have been replaced by the L'Apogee - another beautiful French saddle. They are extremely hard to find so was pleased that I could find one in excellent condition and for a reasonable price. (These saddles sold new for around $3300).
Likes: The Chantilly is a gorgeous French saddle with soft supple leather, in the monoflap design with substantial but not overly large knee rolls and a medium deep seat. The saddle places the rider in the perfect position and is extremely comfortable to ride in. The twist is narrow. The best thing about this saddle - which seems to be the case for many quality French saddles - is it's amazing ability to fit many different sizes and shapes of horses. I have used this saddle with wonderful results (the horses love it) on TB's, warmbloods (large and small) and even a pony. The monoflap design provides for an extremely close contact feeling with your horse while providing a nice support for the rider.
Dislikes: Absolutely NOTHING!!! I love this saddle.
Quality: Soft supple leather, monoflap design, external knee blocks, flap strap, foam panels. The quality speaks for itself. This saddle is 8-9 years old and looks like new.
Summary: If you can find one... buy it. You won't be disappointed.
