Purchase: I bought this pad from Dover Saddlery for $22. My haflinger has no withers and a broad back so saddle fitting has always been difficult especially with side to side rolling. I bought this in hopes it would actually work and keep the saddle still whether it's during mounting, jumping, or shying.
Likes: I love just about everything about this pad! It is lightweight and thin so it doesn't mess with contact. The best thing of all is it actually works! My horse has shied and refused jumps and I've lost a stirrup so all of my weight was in one stirrup and the saddle didn't slip at all! Normally it would have rolled completely over and I would have been on the ground. I am so glad I bought this pad.
Dislikes: It would be nice if they could make the pad in a contoured fit so it lays flat under the saddle.
Quality: The pad is made out of a strong and tacky neoprene-like material but I like it better than any neoprene. There is a sticker that has the brand name on it and it is actually labeled that it will tear the material if you try to remove it (nice to know). There are also ventilation holes in the pad which I think help a lot. Nice construction and quality that seems like it will last a long time.
Summary: I love this pad. I would recommend it to anyone who has had saddle slipping problems. Note that there are two different sizes when you buy one - a larger western size and an english size which I believe is 17"x22" (the one I have). It works wonders and makes for an even happier and safer ride!
