Purchase: I brought this saddle new about 12 years ago when i first started riding from a local tack shop. Back then i paid between 600-800 dollars for it.
Likes: This saddle serviced me very well as a child. I rode in it for a long time until i moved up to a crosby xl. the leather lasted well through all the years and nothing was replaced in the 12 years it was used.
Dislikes: This saddle is a good starter saddle for a child, but i would not tell an adult to go buy one for themselves. I do not know if this saddle was an undergraduate or graduate model, but it was made to only fit a childs body. The stirrup bars are set fairly far forward kicking your legs out in front of you if your sturrips are lengthened alot. But again, this could be a simply because the saddle was made to be a kids saddle.
Quality: This saddle is very well made, and as i said we never got anything replaced on it. The seat and the leather are in very good condition, and while one can tell it is a cheap saddle (the leather quality does not compare with the crosby), i like it much better than the new child's HDR.
Summary: I would look at one of these saddles if you are looking for a kids saddle. We have many students at our farm, and this is my favorite kids saddle. In fact, we just sold it after 12 years and it was still in very good condition. For a cheaper starter saddle, a millers would be what i pick, i can garentee they last better and are made sturdier than other like-priced childs saddles offered.
