Hamilton
Nylon Halter
Halters/Ropes/Leads

Manufacturer: Hamilton
Model: Nylon Halter
Category: Halters/Ropes/Leads

Purchase: I have purchased several of these halters over the years, from Fleet Farm, Kv Vet, TSC, and smaller co-ops. They usually run about $20, but may be more or less depending on the size.

Likes: They are sturdy and come in a variety of colors (any color you desire). The older ones have a wonderful metal tip to the crown piece, which makes it easier to get the halter on and off. I have never known one to break, except when the dog chewed it up.

Dislikes: I am not as fond of the newer ones. I do not like the adjustable chin piece, because I never adjust that part of the halter anyhow and I find that the extra hardware gets in the way of putting a lead rope on, requiring me to use two hands on my yearling's halter. The hardware decolorizes over time and the part that holds the extra nylon in place on my yearling's halter fell off, despite its minimal use. I also am not fond of the jaw hook, as most people are not aware that the hook goes on the outside and if faced inward, becomes a danger to the horse's eye if it is left on when he rolls. I prefer to see a safety hook here.

Quality: This is a durable, triple-stitched nylon halter excellent for everyday use. It comes in two shades of hot pink, at least seven shades of blue, three shades of lilac, and any other color your heart desires.

Summary: Perfect for everyday use, although not a turn-out halter, so do not leave your horse unattended in it. I prefer to older ones, but as they are hard to find used I would not hesitate to buy a new one.
