Purchase: I bought this fly spray on line from a discount horse supply company. I think I paid about $18 for the concentrate and the spray bottle it comes with. I use A LOT of fly spray June July August September up here in Connecticut. My barn is near some wetlands and the mosquitoes are really bad! I wanted a natural alternative for my horse.
Likes: I love the smell. It does not have that citronella smell that other "natural" sprays have that does nothing but annoy the horse owner. It also goes on evenly, and seems to work relatively well, even when compared with other chemical sprays. I have tried about 8 brands this season. 3 were "natural" alternative, the rest were chemical alternatives, I think "Flicks" works as well as all the chemical brands without the harmful effects.
Dislikes: Unfortunately, like most "natural" alternatives, it doesn't last forever. It will repel biting insects for up to, what I think is about 10-15 hours so, it does need to be applied daily. Although, there have been a couple of times I haven't been able to get to the barn for a day and my horse still seems to be bite free so, I guess depending on conditions, weather etc, the spray will last longer then I previously said.
I also don't like that the spray bottle that comes with the concentrate is not labeled. I wrote on it what it was, but a label would be nice.
Quality: The spray bottle is very durable. My horse stumbled over it and has knocked it off a ledge and it held up.
Summary: Overall, the best natural fly spray I have used. Even outperforms some of the "top" chemical sprays.
