Purchase: Who can pass up a breech sale? I certainly couldn't, which is how I ended up with a pair of Dublin Original Side-Zip Breeches for $19.99 from Dover Saddlery. They were originally $69.95. For $20, I figured I couldn't go wrong.
Likes: I love the fit of these breeches. The fabric is a nice weight and they're very comfortable on. The pockets are fantastic - perfect for stashing treats. I really like that they were $20.
Dislikes: These breeches did pill up a little on the first ride. Right off the bat, the knee patches did not play well with my Wintec saddle - apparently, synthetic leather and synthetic suede don't work together. It almost looks like the synthetic suede knee patches are wearing through in places. The stitching is pulling through a little on one knee patch (after the first ride).
Quality: The breeches themselves are fantastic - nice zipper, great Velcro ankle closures, nice fabric. The knee patch material leaves a lot to be desired. The description in the Dover catalog says the knee patches are Clarino but it's the oddest Clarino I've ever seen.
Summary: I like the way these breeches fit but am not impressed with the sub-par knee patches. If I had paid $70 for these breeches, I would be fit to be tied! However, for $20, I can live with them.
