Purchase: I purchased two of these from Country Supply for $30 each because I moved to a more southern climate and my paints were getting sunburned to the point where you could see their pink skin from under their fur! I thought I'd do a fly sheet to adapt them to the sun but provide some UV protection; because it would hold up better than a cooler or show sheet; and because I might as well protect them from those nasty flies!
Likes: It was an inexpensive fly sheet.
Dislikes: Within a week both were torn beyond repair. My little gelding does seem to attract occasional nips from the mares, but he was with a group of horses he'd been with for five years (my other horses), so the nips weren't more than normal horseplay. My little mare is the only girl whom I can trust NOT to tear a blanket or sheet or mask because she's scared of everyone, and low and behold, hers was torn as well.
Quality: Very fine mesh construction, surcingle buckle and leg straps. Despite it being on TV and retailing for $60, it was lousy. Guess that just goes to show that just because something gets media doesn't mean that it's any good!
Summary: I won't buy another one of these. Two was plenty. I can't recommend this to anyone, although you might be safe for a few months if you keep your horse in a stall or outside in a paddock alone that is high-tensile or PVC.
