Purchase: I purchased two of these three years ago. I bought them on ebay from member Tack Wholesale for about $75 each, plus shipping.
Likes: This is a tough and relatively durable winter turnout blanket that is heavy enough for Minnesota winters, keeps the horses nice and warm, doesn't rub the hair short, is comfortable and not impeding to the movement of the horse beyond reason, and is quite inexpensive.
Dislikes: I suppose it would be nice to have a guarantee on the blankets, like Rambo and Weatherbeeta (Rambo is usually 5 years and Weatherbeeta is usually one year), but I guess you're paying for the product without the guarantee, and they're hard to find locally, anyhow. One of mine ripped the first year, although was still usable until it ripped more during the second year. The other one was fine the first year but ripped the second year, though not enough to discontinue its use. I usually like to get 1 year for each $25 I spend on a blanket, and it looks like one of these will make it that far. Also, there is a removable tail flap, which is a nice idea but falls off of both of my blankets.
Quality: 900 x 600 denier shell with 300 grams of polyfil. Girth surcingle and leg straps hold it on; removable tail flap that always fell off of both of my blankets. Inside lining is 260 denier. Front gussets; available in most common sizes and available in black, purple, and green. No belly wrap or closed front styles available. Good quality for the price.
Summary: Overall, it is a nice, relatively heavy winter blanket. It is certainly suitable for horses in small herd settings, although for horses in herds of more than 3 or 4 you may want to try something with a guarantee that you can buy locally, as if this one rips you are not going to easily be able to exchange it and it held up past 30 days for me (usual exchange time for online goods...though you'll have to pay return shipping which will be expensive due to the size). Good value for the price.
