Purchase: I purchased this from KV Vet for approximately $60 for five pounds, which was roughly a two-month supply. I had two horses with heaves and I was hoping to find something to help them breathe more easily, in addition to the proper management procedures (no hay, 24/7 turnout on pasture), Su-Per Wind, regular workouts, and corticosteriods.
Likes: It is easy to feed; it just goes right on the feed and mixes in very easily. My horses found it palatable enough when mixed in.
Dislikes: It didn't work. Everything I was doing for my horses beyond this helped, but when I added this to the equation, nothing improved and they even had a short depression in improvement, though probably due to the summer weather. I was in high school and spending every cent I earned working paying for my two sick and very expensive-to-maintain horses, and it was a big blow that I'd wasted $60 on a product that claimed to work for horses with heaves and did not.
Quality: This is a powder that comes in a large plastic bucket. I suppose I might have questioned the words "healing symptoms" (because you can hide symptoms, but I didn't know you could heal them), but I was 16.
Summary: Not worth the cost. Proper management is essential for horses with heaves, and while I do recommend Su-Per wind for horses that are ON strict heaves management (IE all-day turnout and NO HAY EVER!), I cannot recommend this product at all.
