Purchase: I purchased this through KV Vet supply for $80 plus shipping. It replaced their old Olympian line, which is what I had ordered (bu they sent me their new line instead). I wanted to replace my older Olympian horse blanket.
Likes: It appears quite warm, although not quite as warm as the Olympians. It is very nonrestrictive in movement, as the innards are not foam but rather actual cotton.
Dislikes: It tore within the first two weeks, and because the quilting was in long tubes rather than individual squares, there was an enormous tear that ran for several feet down the length of the blanket. Granted, this is a stable blanket and I used it as a turnout blanket, but it didn't last long before major tears. I still use it, although I will be replacing it this year. I have used it four winters, though not without a lot of tears.
Quality: 420 denier with colored piping, available in most sizes and a great selection of colors. Probably fine for a stable blanket, but not good for turn out.
Summary: Not the blanket to buy if you're going to turn out with other horses or around trees. If you like the quilted blankets, the Olympian blankets work for both turn-out and stable blankets without much tearing, or at least they have for me in the past. I'll give Polar a bit of credit for not tearing to the point of being unusable for four years.
