Purchase: I was looking for an inexpensive dressage saddle and bought this one in a set with all the fittings and a bridle online at tackwholesale.com. All together I paid just under $250.
Likes: I've had this saddle for three years now and use it on average 5 days a week. For something so cheap, nothing has broken, but I can't say that I really like anything about it.
Dislikes: Where do I start... This saddle is horrible as far as I'm concerned. The leather is very low quality, as you'd expect, and there are massive rubs on the flaps from the stirrup leathers and my legs. There are no knee or thigh blocks to speak of and the leather is so cheap and slippery (still after 3 years) that it's difficult to stay still in the saddle, not a real issue for me, but it's a pain. After a few months the saddle began to fit my horse improperly. It had been fine, and I'm not exactly sure what happened to it but I assume it's the flocking and general poor construction. Without a pad underneath the saddle is practically a recliner, which has caused some problems with my horse's back. It's strange how much I dislike this saddle since I bought a jumping saddle by the same manufacturer at the same time and, while not top quality, it's been much more enjoyable to use and hasn't had the same issues as the dressage saddle.
Quality: As I said, the construction is very poor. This saddle just hasn't stood up to the work I need it to do. I've gotten by, but it certainly hasn't been enjoyable using this saddle.
Summary: I would avoid this saddle at all costs. The low price is what drew me to it, but you get what you pay for.
