Purchase: I purchased this at Fleet farm for $4 for use on my horse's muzzle, in the ears, and around the eyes, where it isn't safe to spray.
Likes: I am happy to say (or am I?) that this is the only fly control product for horses that actually really works. When I put it on my horses, flies do not bother their ears or face. I usually need to reapply it every 2-3 days, but the flies stay away when my horse is wearing it.
Dislikes: It is fine for trail riding or in the pasture, but you couldn't use it at shows. It leaves visible marks from application that take a long time to evaporate (hours). Unless you want your horse to show with rings around his eyes and scribbles on his muzzle, this is not something to apply on show day.
Quality: This comes in a small roller tube and applies as a liquid directly to the skin at contact points. I use it around the face, where it is hard to spray, and sometimes on the belly where flies get really bad.
Summary: Great price for a product that actually works. Don't use it on show day, but for general comfort, schooling, hacking, trails, and working, this product is great if you don't mind the streaks it leaves behind on your horse (they look like sweat marks...just darker hair). Apply it evenly, because flies won't land where it is on, but they will consider areas where it is not. I need to do a line down the nose, circles around the eyes, and the soft part of the muzzle and inside of the ears and flies stay away.
