Purchase: My friend purchased this for her gelding, who was a terrible cribber and whom no crib collar worked on. She paid about $200 for the product.
Likes: Nothing. I would never recommend it to anyone.
Dislikes: Her horse rolled in his stall and it twisted around his neck so that the shock part was facing sideways. The shocker doesn't discriminate parts of the horse and started shocking her horse repeatedly because it was on the wrong place. This was a lesson and show horse who was fairly valuable and also safe enough for slightly older kids (her 12 year old sister showed him). Her horse went berserk because he couldn't get away from the shock. He reared and flipped and wouldn't let anyone near him to take it off. She was able to get him sedated using a tranquilizer gun and got it off; fortunately, he wasn't hurt. As she told me, just hours later, a friend of hers called in tears because she had bought the same product and the same thing had happened to her horse on that very same day. Only she wasn't so lucky; her horse broke his leg from all the thrashing around and they had to shoot him because she didn't have a tranq gun and didn't know anyone who did, and it was the only way to get him to stop hurting himself.
Quality: This is a small metal unit that attaches to a leather strap that goes around the horse's neck. It does shock but it doesn't discriminate if it gets twisted.
Summary: Not a product I would consider for my horses (or yours). I don't care who endorses it.
