Purchase: I purchased these bags at Country Max, Farmington, NY for 19.95 each. I have purchased three of them for my two horse trailer.
Likes: I thought they were a good price for a product bearing a reputable name. I like that the triangular shape fits well in my trailer, and the mesh bottom lets the hay chaff fall out. The vinyl type material that the sides are made of is easy to clean, and the bags are nice and deep. You can fit several flakes of hay in them. They also came complete with snaps for the corners.
Dislikes: To my dismay, the first bag tore out at the corners in less than 6 trailer rides. The metal grommets in the corners that the snaps fasten to completely collapsed, and then they ripped out of the fabric. At first I thought my young horse was too rough on the bag, but when I replaced the bag with a new one, and put my older horse in that slot on the trailer, the same thing happened. I even purchased a third bag, and it is starting to rip out as well. (silly me!)
Quality: When I looked at the hardware, particularly the grommets, I noticed that they split in two and I could squeeze them out of shape easily between my index finger and thumb. Now, come on! Why would Professional Choice choose such cheap hardware. These bags are only as strong as the grommets, and they are the weak link here. The snaps did not break. The web fabric in the corners of the bags only ripped because the grommets collapsed first. These bags are not horse proof.
Summary: My contact at Country Max kindly emailed the Professional Choice Rep for me, only to be told that they would not repair or replace them, even though I returned two of them in the original packaging, looking new except for the damage. I kept the least damaged one to use in the meantime. I had purchased all three between two months and seven months. Last I heard, Professional Choice had a great return policy covering their products for one year. The bags were used as they were intended, not abused, so why would they not help me? Now I have three hay bags with identical problems, so I definitely do not recommend them!
