Purchase: I saw an ad in a popular horse magazine several times showing how fly predators could reduce the fly population in barns, paddocks, and manure piles. We have 8 horses, 1 foal, and two small ponies. There are no horses on either side of the barn/house. Stalls are cleaned and manure removed twice per day. The compost pile is located very far from the barn and a large number of predators were distributed as instructed around the compost pile. I paid $133 over the past 3 months.
Likes: I liked the "concept" of no pesticide use to kill flies.
Dislikes: They don't work and I found them to be a complete waste of money. I described my situation when I ordered them from the company and they assured me that I would see a definitive reduction in flies within 2 months. I ordered a double order to start and then they were sent regularly. I did not see any reduction in the fly population; to the contrary, as the summer progressed I saw an increase in the fly population so I stopped having them sent.
Quality: The fly predators are sent in a "pre-hatched" state and the instructions are clearly laid out on how to distribute them and when.
Summary: Save your money! They are expensive and not effective.
