Purchase: It was like a first kiss the day I found out that I was to big for my old saddle and needed a new one. My mom and I found the used Courbette at a local tack shop. The clerk was very nice and helped me decide between a smaller Courbette and a larger one. The smaller was more detailed and antique looking, but I ended up with the larger one mainly because my parents aren't thrilled with bying me another one in a few years. We bought it for a steal of $495, because it looked brand new.
Likes: I particularly enjoy the fact that it was made in Germany. The saddle fits my long legs( someone must have ordered extra long legs when I was born). The leather is nice and supple, very easy to work with.Plus it has a wonderfully wide tree for the Quarter Horses that I ride.
Dislikes: I only have one complain. The first day I rode with it my longest girth(46)didn't fit around my 'mare of substance'and I ended up having to 1. use my old saddle and 2. buy another girth. It ended up that the girth straps were too short. Even when I punched holes in the very end it still didn't fit.
Quality: My riding instructor was very impressed with the saddle and said it fits me perfectly. It has knee rolls and cut in pommel. The saddle has a bullish brown sheen to it and a rounded cantle.
Summary: In summery the saddle turned out to be a perfect fit with my leg and body shape. I can also use it on other horses at the barn because of the tree width. Over all it was a great investment.
