Purchase: I bought this several years ago on ebay for somewhere between $35 and $45. I have so many horses and was tired of changing girths.
Likes: It fits everything from my larger ponies to my 17 handers. I've had it at least 5 years and nothing has broken. It is perfect for schooling or lessons. I bought one for the therapeutic riding stable I worked at because I always spent so much time looking for the right size girth whenever I had to change tack and horses! Now the instructors at least have one girth that they don't need to change around.
Dislikes: I guess it could be better quality. Though it has lasted despite less-than-regular cleanings, the leather is still course and stiff and is showing signs of cracking. My good leather pieces do not start to crack like this, though they're cleaned even less frequently because this girth goes on every horse.
Quality: 3-piece adjustable girth adjusts on both ends (as normal) plus underneath to expand from 48-56 inches (maybe a bit more?). Very smooth leather, but made in India.
Summary: This is a great schooling girth for those of us with many horses who don't want to buy many girths (or those of us with pudgy horses in the winter who sleek up in the summer and no longer fit!). A great buy for schooling use, but not show quality. I consider this a must-have for those with many, but for those with only one at a time, I would suggest that you just buy one nice girth, because even if you plan to keep your tack as you buy and sell your horses, I don't see this girth lasting long enough to make it better than just spending money on one nice girth and then a girth extension, if necessary, or a new nice one when you move on again.
